Level 2 CYPW Mandatory Units

Below is a summary of the mandatory units for the Level 2 Certificate

 

Unit 001 - Introduction to Communication

 

Highlighting the central importance of communication with a range of people and ways to reduce barriers to communication. It also addresses the issue of confidentiality.

 

Unit 002 - Introduction to Personal Development

Introducing the concepts of personal development and reflective practice and ways to implement these.

 

Unit 003 - Introduction to Equality and Inclusion

Introducing  the concepts of equality, diversity and inclusion.

 

Unit 004 - Child and Young Person Development

Knowledge and understanding of child and young person development and the factors, including transitions, which may affect development.

 

Unit 006 - Contribute to the Support of Child and Young Person Development

Applying knowledge and understanding to support development, transitions and positive behaviour.

 

Unit 007 - Safeguarding the Welfare of Children and Young People

Knowledge and understanding required for safeguarding against abuse, illnesses and injury.

 

Unit 009 - Contribute to Children and Young People’s Health and Safety

Knowledge and skills to contribute to health and safety; including risk assessment, procedures and reporting for accidents, incidents, emergencies and illnesses.

 

Unit 010 - Support Children and Young People’s Positive Behaviour

Knowledge, understanding and skills to support positive behaviour and responding to inappropriate behaviour.

 

Unit 011 - Contribute to the Support of Positive Environments for Children and Young People

Understanding and skills required  to support a positive environment and the importance to individual needs.

 

Unit 012 - Understand Partnership Working in Services for Children and Young People

Knowledge and understanding of the importance of partnership working and effective communication.

 

Unit 014 - Maintain and Support Relationships with Children and Young People

Communicating, developing and maintaining relationships with children and young people, and supporting relationships between children and young people and others in the work setting.

015 Paediatric Emergency First Aid

Knowledge and practical competences required to deal with the range of paediatric emergency first aid situations.

 

Unit 016 - Managing Paediatric Illness and Injury

Knowledge and practical competences required to deal with the range of paediatric illnesses and injuries.

 

Paediatric First Aid Certification will also be awarded on completion of units 015 and 016.
