Chiltern Training Continuing Professional Development Early Years Courses

Chiltern Training’s CPD courses are delivered through Chiltern E-Learn. This is Chiltern Training’s online learning platform. These courses are delivered on a distance learning basis and can be undertaken in your own time and at your own pace. The Early Years CPD courses we deliver are as follows:

‘Introduction to Child and Young Person Development’                                           Cost: £30

There are many factors thChild Developmentat affect a child and young person’s development. These learning modules aim to introduce and develop knowledge and understanding of child and young person development from 0 to 19 years. Through this you will learn the main stages of child and young person development. As a result you will be able to understand the kinds of influences that affect children and young people’s development and understand the potential effects of transitions on children and young people’s development.

Exploring Child and Young Person Development’                                                   Cost: £40

One of the first things to learn about children’s development is that there are a whole host of factors that can influence their growth and learning. Development is quite complex and the combination of both genetic and other factors means that every child is different. This course will go in to more depth of the exploration of a child and young person development.

Across these learning modules you will look in to understanding the expected pattern of development for children and young people from birth to 19 years. You will be able to understand the factors that influence children and young people’s development and how these affect practice. You will learn how to monitor children and young people’s development and interventions that should take place if this is not following the expected pattern. You will also be able to understand the importance of early intervention to support the speech, language and communication needs of children and young people and to understand the potential effects of transitions on children and young people’s development.

Through learning these modules you will be able to know when to use the right method for the right situation. You will also learn what you should do if a child that you are observing does not seem to follow the usual pattern of development. Finally this will allow you to know about the impact that transitions can have on children and young people.

‘Introduction to Safeguarding Children and Young People’                                      Cost: £30

It is important that as a professional working with children and young people that you are safeguarding their welfare. This introduction to safeguarding will provide you with the knowledge and understanding required to do this. Throughout this programme you will learn about the legislation guidelines, policies and procedures for safeguarding the welfare of children and young people including e-safety. You will learn what to do when children or young people are ill or injured, including emergency procedures. On completion you will know how to respond to evidence or concerns that a child or young person has been abused, harmed or bullied.

 

Exploring Safeguarding Children and Young People’                                               Cost: £40

Each year children and young people are abused or indeed killed. As part of your professional responsibilities it is essential that you are at all times vigilant and thoughtful about anything that a child says or does that might point to that child being the victim of abuse or being in danger.

Across the learning modules you will learn about your responsibility in keeping children safe by safeguarding 2understanding the main legislation, guidelines, policies and procedures for safeguarding children and  young people. You will understand the impact of working in partnership with other organisations to safeguard children and young people. Understand the importance of ensuring children and young people’s safety and protection in the work setting. 

You will understand how to respond to evidence or concerns that a child or young person has been abused harmed or have been bullied. After these learning modules you will also understand how to work with children and young people to support their safety and wellbeing. As well as understanding the importance of e-safety for children and young people.

You will learn about the physical signs of abuse such as cigarette burns or a child having bruises in unexpected places. You will learn about behaviour that needs investigating and the skills required in doing so. You will also learn how to help children and young people to take care of themselves. After this course you will also be aware of the ways in which children and young people are targeted through different media platforms.
